Jiddu Krishnamurti

. Krishnamurti (1895-1986) is regarded the world over now as one of the greatest religious teachers of all times. For nearly sixty years he travelled all over the world, pointing out to people the need to transform themselves through self knowledge by being aware of their thoughts and feelings in daily life. And he held that this can be done only in the mirror of relationship. He maintained that a new society can emerge only through a radical change in the individual. Though he was very alive to contemporary issues through the decades, his answers were rooted in his timeless vision of life and truth. As such, his teachings transcend all man-made boundaries of religion, nationality, ideology, and sectarian thinking. Refusing to play the role of a guru himself, he urged his listeners to inquire on their own and be a light unto themselves.
His concern for humanity found expression in the founding of schools where children were not only nurtured for academic excellence but also helped to explore the fundamental questions of life.
